Reading List for Modern Warfare
I am hesitant to create too many reading lists, they tend towards the perfection, or completion, of knowledge. For this reason I have kept this reading list as short as possible, it is intended for contemplation – images that will ferment through the seasons.
“The World Wars” by Friedrich Georg Jünger1
Simplicius Simplicissimus by Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen
“Fortunes of War” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“Celebration of Peace” by Friedrich Hölderlin
“The Naturphilosophie Fragment” by Heinrich Heine2
“Lamentation of the Sword” by Léon Bloy3
Sweating Blood by Léon Bloy
Copse 125 by Ernst Jünger
“The Order of the World after the Second World War” by Carl Schmitt4
“Gestaltwandel: Prognosis for the Twenty-First Century” by Ernst Jünger5
Meditations of a Solitary in 1916 by Léon Bloy
